    Prophecy:
-speaking the words of God (Pastor Dan from Vineyard, Camarillo)
-speaking inspirationally (Pastor Dave from NewSong Irvine)

Last Sunday, the message was on prophecy. By the way, I am now attending Vineyard Church in Camarillo; yeah, I finally got over NewSong Irvine. It just took a couple of years. But anywhoo, it was a very interesting message. I learned that prophecy may have a predictive element in it but it doesn't have to be. Potentially, we can all prophesy and the gift of prophecy is the greatest gift of all. I always thought that a prophecy is just a prediction of the future but I learned that in addition to it, it's just God speaking through someone (literally). Pastor Dan gave an example how the founder of the Vineyard movement was on an airplane and he saw the word "adultery" written on the forehead on another passenger. He couldn't believe his eyes and later he saw the word "Jane". Later, he confronted that passenger and I think the passenger and his wife got saved.  I can see how it is the greatest gift because what is cooler than God speaking through you?

Towards the end of the service, Pastor Dan asked people in the audience to come forward to the mic if God just spoke to them. Some spoke of specific healings and one woman said the following: "Some of you are striving very hard to gain holiness and that is good, but you are being held back by the things of this world. You can't do this by yourself but lean into the Holy Spirit"

After she said that, I thought, "Hey that applies to me!" The day before, while I was running, I was thinking, "Man, I really want to be a good follower of Jesus but I keep stumbling by the things of the world and flesh!"

craziness...   one of the reasons why I wanted to go to vineyard is to receive a prophecy about myself; when I can, I would like to talk to the pastor and ask for one, if possible. that would be really cool =Þ

  • Identity Crisis...

After spending 6-months in India, I started seeing myself as Indian, but after spending 12 days in China I'm reminded that I'm Chinese. ID Clash!! hahaha. Well, now I'm motivated to learn both Hindi and Mandarin! I doubt I have the time though...
  • Vacation Time is Over...

Job begins Oct. 13 (whoohoo!) but at the same time, I'm scared because this is a REAL job. yeah the other jobs that I had weren't real: TA for upper division econ class (well, this felt pretty real), civil engineer intern (a joke but well paid =D), working on-campus (okay this felt real too but I didn't really do anything...)

I'm just a bit nervous because I'm actually going to be doing something engineering related, which I don't really have any hands-on experience in!  Well, maybe I'm over-hyping hahahaha. Actually, I was a civil engineer in India for 6-months and that was the closest I had to civil engineer experience. I was nervous at first because literally, I didn't know anything but I caught on. I'll see how this job goes.
